Bankers Hospital was recently presented with a critical case where a 52-year-old female patient had complete left-side paralysis and was unable to speak for more than 2 hours. Her traumatized family rushed her to Nand Hospital, where primary treatment was given immediately by Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Yayati. She was then referred to Bankers Hospital, where our Stroke Team immediately swung into action.
A brain MRI suggested an acute CV stroke with right internal carotid artery occlusion. Fortunately, the family had acted fast, and the patient was still within the window period for performing Mechanical Thrombectomy. The team proceeded with this procedure, followed by an angioplasty of the right ICA (a major blood vessel in the neck that carries blood from the heart to the brain).
The dedicated stroke-ready team at Bankers Hospital is trained to act swiftly in such emergency situations. Thanks to their quick response, they successfully re-established good blood flow in the vessel, and the patient's health improved remarkably. She is now able to walk, with no major residual paralysis, and has regained her speech.
The patient and her family were immensely thankful to the team at Bankers Hospital and expressed their deepest gratitude.
